Rift: Biting Off More Than They Can Chew?
We're not in Azeroth anymore is all they have to say? Are they (Trion) biting off more than they can chew? Famous last words? Those words ring hollow in my ears. The far off echoes of Warhammer... A faint cry from Aion... Now Rift?
I know it's all in good fun and I wish them the best, in all honesty. However those are mighty big shoes to fill. I've been watching videos of beta and I'm not yet convinced.

Wow, Thats pretty bold of them. Kudos in the "we've got Kaunas" department but I'd have to agree with you- in that, what is out for us to see/preview is not even convincing, appealing or in any shape makes me want to purchase this game for it's 49.99$ launch price. Even with the added incentive of "We're not in Azeroth anymore" 9.99 monthly sub for 6 months.
ReplyDeleteI can see all the flesh heads now, those Aion and Warhammer goonies foaming at the mouth to splurg another 50$ on a game that will, most likely, NOT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE; and definitely not a WoW killer.
While I'm all for tried and true, I don't mind more of the same sometimes- Just don't make it out to be more than it is.
ReplyDeleteIt does remind me a bit of Aion and Warhammer at this point, both of which I didn't end up liking. I really, really wanted to like Aion but it was disappointing.
I do wish for a new, different game to play for a change. I hope to actually see more on this one before I make my final decision. Not going to write it off but I'm not getting hyped either.
I thought it was a fun dig at WoW, but not necessary, imo. They would do better not to bring any mention of WoW into their game at all, God knows enough comparisons will be made already :P
ReplyDeleteVery true. I thought it was funny but at the same time it could backfire on them, in a way.
