What is SOPA, and why should YOU care?

It's a scary thought that SOPA could be passed. Some good articles I thought I'd share and pass on:

And.... if you haven't heard about the blackout set for tomorrow, Januarth 18th, check out SopaBlackout.org.

Many sites and blogs will be participating in tomorrow's internet blackout, I'm still unsure. If you can't access it then that's the reason. For now I thought I'd at least do my share and pass on information today about SOPA. It's actually pretty damn terrifying that something like this could be passed. Don't just sit there and let it happen. We're the land of the free, home of the brave, lets not forget that!

  1. I've blacked out my site. I used a great WordPress Plugin that also included a video and links for those who might be interested.

I'm really pleased to see that several big name websites are getting on board by either blacking out their site entirely, or including anti SOPA links.

A few politicians have already backed away from the bill, so that's good news. Quite a few of my blog buddies have opted to go black too.

  2. Good for you, Opal! I thought about doing the same but I opted to just leave up the site for the information to be there. I was also pleased how many big sites took part in showing just how serious this really is.

  3. I still had information during the blackout day but that was the only page that was accessible. I linked to a video also.

Earlier today, The US Federal government, shut down MegaUploads earlier today. That was a legitimate file sharing site. What gets interesting is to learn that the owner isn't even based here in the USA. I'll be curious to learn more about this case...
